Matthew “Matt” Abbott (born March 13, 1966) is a Canadian sailor and two-time Olympic silver medalist. Abbott raced with his brother Bill Abbott, Jr. in the 49er class at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, finishing 4th in 1988 and 6th in 1992. Abbott won silver medals at the 1995 and 1997 Pan American Games.
He and his brother also won the North American Championships in 1993. In 2000 Abbott competed in the Sydney Olympics and finished 13th with crew Brad Boston. Abbott is the only male sailor to win two Pan Am silver medals in the same event, the Star. Abbott also won a silver medal in the Star at the 2005 Pan American Games.
